Meet the Teacher
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Room 212 and the third grade! My name is Mrs. Matz. I have been with District 80 for 12 years. It is my “home away from home.” I am so excited to start the new school year with you! Working collaboratively is my goal. Together, our students will succeed in having a productive year filled with new and exciting learning experiences. As a way to get to know one another and to communicate better, I have sent home today some homework pieces (2). Please fill in the communication sheet and the questionnaire with your child today and have your child bring it back this week. It would be much appreciated!
If I may, I would love to share a little bit about myself! I have taught several grades in my teaching career that include kindergarten, first, second, third, and special education. My undergraduate work was done at Trinity International University and is in general education; and, my graduate work was done at Northeastern Illinois University and is in special education. I love both areas and feel this knowledge makes me a more well-rounded, understanding teacher. I have been married to my husband, Craig, for 27 years, and we have a 25-year-old daughter, Brooke. Brooke is in her second year of medical school. I also have two fur babies (dogs). They are Maltese, and their names are Ridge and Ricky. They are 6-years-old now. My favorite colors are blue and green. I am a coffee lover (especially McDonald’s coffee!! YUMMY!!) and I have bad food allergies to chocolate (sad face) and some fish. My favorite restaurant is Roberto’s in Elmhurst (you must try their pizza), and my favorite junk food is Taco Bell. I love to teach, read and explore, make art projects, decorate my home, and walk my dogs.
During the school year, if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please don’t hesitate to contact me. There are several ways we can communicate. We can sit down and talk, you can send a note with your child, you can email me at [email protected], or call the school office at (708) 456-8848 to transfer to my line. I will get back to you as soon as possible. Students will have a Take Home Folder that will carry homework and communicating notes. Feel free to place notes of your own in it!
Warmest regards,
Mrs. Matz
